What is the difference between a comet, asteroid, and meteor?

Comets: icy bodies that develop tails when near the Sun. Asteroids: rocky/metallic bodies, mostly in the asteroid belt. Meteors: streaks of light from small objects burning in the atmosphere ('shooting stars'). Meteorites are meteors that reach the ground.
