How do I get scratches out of wood furniture?

Minor scratches: rub with walnut meat (oils fill scratches), use furniture polish, or apply a matching wood marker. Deeper scratches may require filling with wood filler, staining to match, and refinishing. Prevention (coasters, felt pads) is easier than repair.
