What is ransomware?

Ransomware encrypts victims' files, demanding payment for decryption keys. It typically spreads through phishing emails or exploiting vulnerabilities. Paying doesn't guarantee recovery and incentivizes attackers. Prevention (backups, updates, security training) is far more effective.
